2021.10.17 05:39 Far-Database-8943 I took my ex gf for granted and she left me
I(23M) took my ex gf (22F) for granted (didn't give her time) and she left me. She was my first love. I begged, cried, was ready to repair all my mistakes but she didn't come back. It's been 2 years and I still can't move on. She is married and a mother now

2021.10.17 05:39 SgtMajor-Issues Left her alone for 3 hours
We went for a nice walk before hand with lots of stops for sniffy time and some off leash running, then got home, showered, and put her in her crate with a nice chew and went over to our neighbors for game night. Left the windows open so we could hear her if she barked, but she just settled in and slept. So proud of her!! Dare I say it's a glimpse of getting my life back? She's about 5.5 months old, and we've left her for a little bit before, but this is the longest she's been alone in her crate.

2021.10.17 05:39 legoshis Everyone in my house is experiencing hair loss at the same exact time. What could it be? What should I do?
Sorry for formatting! I’m on mobile.
So, I am 21F, and around two years ago my hair began falling out. The loss is not patchy, but completely diffused. I realized over time that my body hair was falling out, too. This includes eyebrows, lashes, arm and leg hair, etc. So far, I’ve lost about 75% of my hair. I also feel a lot weaker physically, and my brain feels foggier.
I’m still not sure why it started but it hasn’t stopped. I tried taking vitamins, managing stress, etc. Nothing has worked. Doctors haven’t given me any real solutions.
After it started, I noticed other family members losing their hair, too. They all lived at home with me. This included my 10 year old brother, my 16 year old sister, my mom, my grandfather (who is on the younger side, with thick, black hair), and a few cousins. I watched over time as their scalps also became more and more visible.
Obviously, once I saw my KID SIBLINGS balding, I panicked and tried to make connections about what could be causing it. I thought, we’re all living under the SAME ROOF. It’s the only thing we all have in common. So what if we have hard water? What if there’s mold? But no one shared that same urgency with me, and they told me to stop worrying.
Here is the part that might make me sound crazy. I moved out with my boyfriend three months ago. I thought, “this is the perfect opportunity for me to see if my old house was causing this”.
But my hair still falls out the same. And get this — my healthy boyfriend started losing hair out of nowhere, too. I’m with him most hours of the day, and have literally watched as his thick hair gets thinner and thinner. I can now see straight through his scalp. He says it has never done this before, and that it can’t be stress (he’s a very happy person).
His mom has long, beautiful hair, and she told me she also started losing hair around the same time I came.
My question is: What could possibly be doing this? I’ve had people tell me left and right that I’m paranoid, anxious, making connections that aren’t there. But what’s happening isn’t normal. My boyfriend and I have researched water and mold exposure as possibilities — he even suggested I’m carrying radiation poisoning (too crazy even for me) — I’m just not sure what to do at this point. Could I be carrying something?
I don’t have insurance at the moment, so I can’t see a doctor.

2021.10.17 05:39 Brocideon-the-god Is the dread armor ever explained?
Aside from being a cool design, why does the power suit in metriod dread look the way it does? Is there lore explanation? I guess Samus tried to rebuild her armor after fusion but where did the white bits come from? At the end of fusion Samus has the fusion suit version of her power suit at full strength because she absorbed the SA-X. So why does the suit go from orange to blue, if the blue in fusion was because that was the inner layer of the suit, why is it the out layer color in dread?

2021.10.17 05:39 Army_Enlisted_Aide Hey guys, an Army enlisted aide here. Reception and responses got measurably better last post, so I’m back for more. This post will go over some special events stuff and, as always, I’ll answer questions.
This will be fairly generic for several reasons, least of which is maintaining my anonymity and ability to keep doing these threads, but also to maintain anonymity of my cohort (more on that soon) and respect the privacy of the families we work for.
There’s usually a timeline, but not always, for these big events. NCOs like us are familiar with TLPs but I’m not going to NCO out and frame things in TLP context. But it’s important to remember that most of us working these events are NCOs and commissioned officers, and we for the most part at least attempt to plan and execute these things as a team. It may or may not resemble TLP or MDMP, but these are all professional Soldiers doing it.
Obviously the best-case scenario starts off with weeks and months of notice. Worst-case is exactly what you think it is. For this, we’ll go with what I consider “comfortable”. Plenty of notice.
So, receive the mission.
Again, for the sake of being generic, I’ll pick the most common type of event that I do: a reception for a pretty close 50/50 mix of Soldiers, civilians, spouses, and the staff.
First thing I do is contact my fellow EAs and tap them for potential brainstorming or even physical help if they are in/going to be in the area. Then I request a meeting.
My first meeting I’m getting as much information as possible. As an NCO in one of these meetings, it can be hard to find your voice when you’re first starting off. But you gotta find your voice. The care, the atmosphere, decor, and of course, food for one of these events are the wheelhouse. As a professional, I want to swing for the fences. So this is the first at-bat. I’m going to get a couple more plate appearances, but this is the lead-off.
Okay sorry about the baseball analogies.
I got the mission and and did my best to put out what I think we can do and how awesome and great we can make the event.
Now I get smacked down. Or I’m given carte blanche. I think about the equipment and serving availability for me both at the quarters, thru protocol, and/or recon the off-quarters location (but I’ll save that scenario for another time).
Protocol is like JAG for what we call official representation funds (ORF). ORF is complicated and I’m not going to go into here mostly because I’ve always relied on protocol to check the math on whether or not ORF is available for an event.
In this instance, we’ll say ORF is available, but our allowance isn’t extravagant. It will be a mild reception unless the boss decides to throw his own money at it. But it’s protocol that initially sets our baseline budget.
If the prince of Egypt or something was visiting, my budget would get fairly ridiculous. But this is a normal, average, low-key event, and I’m just trying to do my job.
Next part is adjusting expectations. I am all gas no breaks off rip. But I don’t know the budget and I don’t know the guest list. Multiplication is pretty easy. Budget is key.
Another meeting happens. The guest list is finalized. Numbers are crunched. I get the budget.
Now, behind the scenes I’ve already been working this. I know what we have in the quarters. I go grocery shopping regularly. I’m like a mom sort of. So we get the budget. So what?
It’s at this point that I’m most closely collaborating with the spouse because their influence, input, and authorization or not of personal funds will influence my final recommendations and our course of action.
If this is a generic thing, this isn’t all that important. For bigger, more important events, I may get some grocery money to do tests on recipes and plates and present them to the boss/spouse ahead of time. Most of the time I’m going off research (my own experience, fellow enlisted aides, cook books, YouTube, Facebook… in that order generally) and maybe small tests in my quarter’s kitchen. Some tests at my own home. Rehearsals are very important.
I request a meeting that I run and that includes everyone, the boss, the spouse, and our team. I have a plan and this is where I put it out and get feedback and work friction points. If I can’t get who or who it turns into emails. But at some point close to the event, I know who my staff is. And I say my staff because it’s all our team, but for these events, I run things.
Final grocery shopping. Protocol. Plates and equipment. We all iron all the last things out. 24 prior I request a rehearsal. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I don’t. But I make sure our space for the event is set up and ready to go, and if I don’t get my rehearsal, I write out easy to understand instructions for my staff, and morning of they ask me why we didn’t do a rehearsal and then I remind them I asked for one and they say “oh yeah” and we get on with it.
Usually we’re talking snacks and drinks for around 50. The 50 is usually broken up, hopefully into 3, sometimes into 2 arrivals and departures. Their invitations reflect it. If the invitees are Soldiers I double my projected food prep for the same number of civilians because Soldiers are hungrier and worse at conversation than civilians.
Like the usual things I’m doing here to keep things vague, I’m not going to talk about specific menus or events as that could identify me or other EAs.
I’m sorry if this came off convoluted. I’m still trying to figure out how to do this on Reddit and bring attention to the job in a good way.
Your comments always help, even if they’re unhelpful, because I get the ping on my phone and I come back and look. So whatever you think about the job or me or the enlisted aide program, thanks for reading this.
Please give me your questions either here or in the DMs.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Best of luck to Whosfrazeman!
